NY Day 10: August 23rd 2011

After school we went to Central Park- we are slowing down and need some rest I think.

The first signs of autumn <3

We’ve seen a 9-year old kid skating on his board and a 11-year old boy playing the ukulele and singing cool songs by the Beatles & Jason Mraz (it was like a mystery: just when I gave him 1 Dollar he began playing Obladi Oblada by The Beatles, just as he read my mind!!!)

Chiara and Jenny watching the Skyline

We went to Roosevelt Island via Highline (not the Highline but a highline) but it was not that great so we qucikly went back to get to the Cake Shop. First we went to a wrong adress I worte down, it was the adress of the diamondway buddhism centre I wanted to visit another time.

So Cake Shop- Lower East Side, for Chiara was hungry and we had lots of free time until the bans were about to play, we went to Mikey’s where I had my first Rootbeer ever and I think it will be the only one :) The bands at the Cake Shop Julian and the Lopez Dispensers and another band were pretty cool, I liked, obviously, JATLD with the female singer more for it was like California happy sunshine msuic :) I never have seen a band like this before so I was pretty happy for this incident :) And: It was for free! Had a Bud, and that’s it.

Oh, and in the afternoon I showed Jenny the muffin shop I bought a muffin on friday and we had lunch with great slices of cake (choclate fudge!!!) there.

NY Day 09: August 22nd 2011

The first day I slept very long although I have been woken up early by my nice flatmates (I hate those guys… Germans!) After showering & breakfast I made my homework and went to s’Nice (Vegetarian and Vegan food) to have a great & delicious carrot muffin with cream on it. Not mentioning the café latte for they have other size-understandings than in Europe.

After school we went to Lower East Side & South Street to watch Williamsburg Bridge & Manhatten Bridge from Manhattens point of view.

We had dinner at Katz’s Delicatessen, actually we wanted to go to Himalaya Café again but on mondays it’s closed. At Katz’s I had Kniffles, they are quared potatoes and they were okay.

The reason we went there was Arlene’s Grocery for the weekly monday nights live Rock’n’Roll Karaoke show… Of course I had to sing up for this opportunity. The other singers where quite good, it was pretty much fun and a “Holy Shit”. When I got on stage singing “London Calling” I first had to find the right height for my voice for Joe sang it really low, but I kinda made it :) It was great fun and many people, also the host of the show, liked it! We have been there until 1:15 am and then went home. Arelene’s is for free on mondays!

Nick & Norah’s Infinate Playlist was set here ;) I made this up.

NY Day 06: August 19th 2011

I got up early for I wanted to go to the Central Park before school, seeing Strawberry Fields. Unfortunately I couln’dt find my notebook from school (I recognized today!) so I searched all over my room for it. I coulnd’t find it and so I thought I lost it on the train after my bad ride on the subway.

When I arrived at 72nd Street West Central Park I just saw

YOKO ONO!!!

walking out of Strawberry Fields. I was so surprised seeing her and also confused if it was really her… She walked me by a meter distance between us and I realized it WAS her! So I took my camera and shot a photo of her back :P (actually I don’t like taking pictures of famous people, for they have to deal that day by day, but from the back it was ok, she didn’t really notice…)

So when I went to Strawberry Fields (the street John Lennon lived in Liverpool when he was young was called Strawberry Fields) to see the “Imagine” mosaique I instantly started crying :D, I was so overwhlemed by this area. It’s so beuatiful John Lennon still lets people “come together” in hope for a better world!

my wet face :P

The Dakota, the famous Hotel where John Lennon has been shot in 1980, Yoko Ono still lives there.

After this huge experience I went down Columbus Ave and had a great Muffin, apple with cranberries, no sugar aka low fat :P (I don’t really care if there’s sugar or not, but the new New Yorkers do…)

After school we went to the Lomography store at the Lower East Side and when we got out of the subway there has been big thunder, lightning and heavy rain. We waited for the rain to calm down, since it wouldn’t we ran through the rain to the store. There I bought a 4 lenses horizontal actionsampler in blue, so did Jennifer, and I love it- curious about the photos!

Finally we had dinner next to Red Bamboo(vegetarian) the Lomogrpahy store cashier recommended but since it was really full and we had to wait at least one hour, we went to Vegetarian Paradise 2, which was also great! I had Veggie Beef with several vegetables, delicious!!! And surpsising for me, the others, who eat meat, say it’s awesome that this veggie meat tastes alike real beef :D
