Summer Edition ´012 Day 25, 22nd of August: The Reunion

Even if I thought I reached/arrived at my vacation finally (in Stockholm), I haven’t . Now I am, I think! No stress, I don’t run around like a crazy chicken, I am enjoying the moment.

entry from the rooftop to the flat I lived in

I don’t know what exactly it is, but I don’t trust my couchsurfing host entirely and  I am very glad I am having Svenja with whom I can spend my time with.

next to me is Nicci, she is a member of Amnesty Interntaional and since then me too!

the first busker I saw on Grafton Street

true story

All day long I brought my guitar with me for I wanted to join an open mic night, whereever it might be! I walked through the streets of Dublin, talked to my mother on the phone and was happy to be here! Suddenly I found myself standing in ront of “The International Bar” a bar which was recommende by Brandon and there would be an open mic tonight!!!

this guy took a photo of me :D

I was sitting at Dame Street waiting for Svenja having lunch break so we could have lunch somewhere. We went to a nice cafe just around the corner of the central bank where we had huge sandwiches, chips and tea!!! Delicious :)

And it was/is so great (I’m repeating myself, I know) after such a long time of 6 years and talking & talking! Much better than keeping up on the internet, even that is great too, but it is just different!

I brought her back to work and she told me anice place to walk: a small canal where I sat down and played some songs. The sun was shining as well (I mention that because that is not for granted here!). But actually the weather is more grey than anything else! It is heavily raining, fine again and that is just repeating all the time!

Svenja and me met again around 5 pm and we went to several bars because she had to do something there for work.

When she was finished with that we walked to her place, a very cute small house which is not so far away from the city centre. We had greek-style salads, delicious tea and went to “The International Bar” where we were like one of the first guests! :) But this was fine buz I had the choice when I’d like to play there this evening!!!

I had a cider and when the open stage finally began (completely unplugged) the host Johnny told everyonbe in the room to have respect for the musicians and poets and remain quiet, which is actually a nice concept, but I understand if poeple are pissed because of that :D I also said hi from Brandon, I expected that the host won’t know who I am talking about but he actually did know him! Funny, never thought that I thought this was a joke.

I was quite excited when I got on stage but once I begin I forgot that I was nervous in the very beginning.

I played Chewed-Up Tape, Sleep and Shallow and it was just great, I really enjoyed it and, hopefully, so did the audience. This was the very first time I played live in another country than Germany.

After that (there were so amazaning S/Sws) we went upstairs for there was some “real irish” playing some folk like music =) It was a very beautiful day & evening with Svenja I am glad we met again!!!

Summer Edition ´012 Day 24, 21st of August: normalean & the day of coincidences

Right now I am sitting on Dame Street, Dublin, in front of the central bank of Ireland waiting for Svenja my former classmate in 2006. I can’t remember when we met the last time. But first I have to tell about my last day in Stockholm. (The sun here in Dublin is shining, there are cold clouds and a very windy wind is blowing rhough my hair).

So, last day in Stockholm, I leave it with a happy & a sad face, I could have done so much more but I am on vacation, still, and still I need to learn to slow down.

we got up, got dressed, had breakfast & then Veronica and me went to Gamla Stan to have lunch at Hermitage, the vegetarian restaurant where I met Hubert & Flora on saturday! When I was inside getting my food at the buffet, Veronica looked for a place to sit outside (although it was a bit rainy) and so she accidentally (No.1) sat next to the door where I just sat on saturday.

There she met (No.2) a boy & a girl (just like I met a boy and a girl on saturday) but… they were taking the same flight just like me in the evening (No.4). We began talking, Ailish & Brendan are into music (No.5) like Brandon is a singer/songwriter just like me & Ailish is stuying music production. We began talking about tattoos and Veronica showed her zodiac sign Gemini and Brendan was not only also Gemini but was born on the very same day as Veronica, even in the same year!!! (No.6) I believe in the power of coincidences!

We said goodbye but not for very long for I would meet them on the plane!

Veronica and me went back home, I bought some nice stamps for my selfmade postcards, designed accidentally by “Malin Koort” (No.7) =)

I had to check some things on the internet, packed my stuff, played “Happily Ever After” for Veronica in the kitchen and finally we said goodbye. Although I wanted to speak & learn more svenska I don’t think I wasted my time. It was so beautiful and I have to get back to weden to see more places and landscapes.

I took the bus to the airport which took about one and a half hours, costed 115kr. Pretty long ride through swedens country side! It was beautiful, I was listening to Nada Surf “Lucky & “The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy”. I love these albums and I am looking forward going to the concert in november.

So at the airport I checked in my guitar and everything with my luggage went just right! There I met Bendan & Ailish again, we kept on talking about music & our plans and futures, our dreams. We also sat together on the plane so we could play the “who am I” game.

“Hello Dublin”

The two of them gave me some tipps, where I could go to an Open Mic Night and where I can have vegetarian & vegan food, for Ailish is a vegan herself!

We said goodbye & I hope I will meet them again! Would be so cool!

So I went to my couchsurfers home, in the very beginning I am always full with doubts and very careful but I think it is okay there. But still it is good, having those doubts and being careful for you never know how some people really are. The flat is full with brazilians. They are having a huge rooftop where you are having a great view over the city! I got some noodles in the evening by my host Jose and I slept in the living room on a huge matrasse!

My Summer Edition 2012

As you probably remember from last year, I love travelling very much. Meeting people, getting to know new cultures and seeing other landscapes, cities and so on :)

So I made a plan for myself. I have this wish since some years, travelling on my own through Great Britian. This is going to be happening like very soon! But before that I am going for 2 weeks to Hamburg a city in Germany I do appreciate very much. I am having there a cutting-course at a summer university.

the tickets

After that I am going by train to Stockholm the capital city of Sweden. Since I got to know my friend Veronica 2 years ago in Prague while we were going to the Beatsteaks concert I wanted to 1. learn swedish (I kind of did) and 2. finally go to Sweden (I’ll do).

my journ(ey)al

After staying there for one week I’ll be flying to Dublin the capital city of Ireland.

After that, everything is kind of a blur, but I have some plans as well, the time is kind of free still but the cities I want to visit are set.

Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchster, Liverpool, London. In London I have to be at least on the 5th of September because I bought a train ticket to Paris with the EuroStar. Whoohoo, the Euro Star! I wanted to ride this train since I read about it in my english book in school.

So Paris for 2 days, just like in the movie (and there is just a new one of that, called 2 Days New York).

But this won’t be the last station of my big journey. After Paris I will visit my collegue in Karlsruhe, but Paris will be the last station abroad.

And I am also taking a friend with me, Doris :D And I’m proudly presenting you her:

Doris Foxie

She is looking a little shy (and honstely she ain’t the prettiest) but I already closed her into my heart!

I am pretty exited as you can guess.

6 weeks out of my town.

Ca. 10 cities to visit.

Many couches to sleep on. Oh did I tell that? I am trying to sleep only on couches, I already found some hosts via http://www.couchsurfing.com

So I say Goodbye now to you!!! (although I havent been here some time…)

I hope you’re having a great summer!!!
